Pull out your juicers and grab your shakers. Let’s get to mixing some healthy cocktails that just might keep your immune system healthy!

Are you home right now more than usual? Are you finding yourself having “happy hour” often at home, while at the same time, trying to keep your immune system at it's healthiest? Those two things don’t necessarily have to be at odds with each other. Consuming alcohol in excess isn’t healthy for us, but with a little moderation and adding in fruits and veggies you can play bartender at home and enjoy delicious and healthy cocktails.

The three drinks below feature ingredients known to support the immune system and hopefully boost your spirits at the same time! These cocktails can be made easily at home and with minimal prep. If you don’t have a juicer (or just hate cleaning your juicer) the fresh juices in each recipe can be made in a blender and then strained. Or support your local juice shop by picking some up there. Each of these drinks can stand alone without alcohol, so if mocktails are more your thing, then simply go sans alcohol and enjoy.

Carrot Turmeric Bees Knees

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh carrot/ginger juice
  • 1/2 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounces honey syrup (2:1)
  • ½ Balance the Superfood Shot Turmeric Blend
  • Optional: splash of Topo Chico Sparkling Mineral Water, Club Soda, or a Citrus sparkling soda.

The classic Bee’s Knees cocktail is a favorite of mine. By adding in fresh juices and Balance the Superfood Shot Turmeric Blend, this cocktail packs a punch of both nutrition and flavor.

Make your juice by using 2-3 carrots and a small piece of fresh ginger. Fresh ginger can be spicy, so less is more if you are sensitive to spice. You can use straight agave or honey, but I prefer to dilute it with some warm water, which is easier to work with and lowers the added sugar in your drink. The perfect ratio is two parts agave or honey to one part water. Mix all your ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake, and strain into a double rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary or parsley.

Green Goddess Martini

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces fresh pineapple juice
  • ½ ounce kale juice
  • 12 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • ½ Balance the Superfood Shot Foundation Blend

Who doesn't love green juice? If you don’t love it, you at least finish a green juice feeling like the healthiest version of yourself. Capture that feeling and nutrition with this Green Goddess Cocktail.

Add all your ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, and then strain into a martini glass. The best part about using pineapple juice is that there is no need for added sweeteners and it’s giving an extra dose of vitamin C. That’s a win for you and your health! Garnish with fresh lime and lemon wheels.

Cucumber Elderberry Margarita

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh cucumber juice
  • 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounces agave nectar
  • ½ Balance the Superfood Shot Immunity Blend
  • optional : salt for rim

Elderberry is an incredible flavor addition to many cocktails and is an easy way to snag some extra Zinc and vitamin C while enjoying an ice cold drink! The beets in Balance the Superfood Shot Immunity blend pair perfectly with the cucumber juice to create a drink rich in flavors. Mix all your ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake, and strain into a double rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and sprig of cilantro.
